Theme 2 : Beekeeping over the time, the ethnobiologic aspects and particularly on the intergenerational transmission of knowledge / Ethnobiologie et transmission intergénérationnelle de l'apiculture / Béryl Coulombié, Akim Pavageau, Zoé Terrapon, Fanny Mokhnachi, Mathilde Levy-Backes, Lola Werquin

In perspective of presenting a scientific session during the 14th Congress of the International Society of Ethnobiology, which will take place in Bhoutan, in our six students group learning on beekeeping have already worked on different subjects all concerning bees and beekeeping. That work particularly permitted us to go on an apiary next to Montpellier, belonging to Benoit Jaillard who is beekeeper and scientist, Director of researches.

This study was introduced in may 2013 for the first Academic Day of Sustainable Development in Montpellier.

At the start of this 2013-2014 school year, our group working on beekeeping had to be separated into two groups for practical reasons. This way, the two groups will share the same problematic :

What would be the consequences of a total disappearance of bees on people?
The first group will therefore focus on the origin of this actual disappearance by retracing the evolution of beekeeping observed in our region but also at the global scale. Then, the second group will concentrate on the consequences of this possible extinction, not only that it would generate in terms of flora, but also especially on the human health. This research will be conducted under the personal supervised work which is a part of our final test, called "baccalauréat" in highschool.

The entire group will host a round table with the participation of several experts from the beekeeping world, that will be held in December 16th 2013, during the Science Week in our school.

During this work, the two groups both will be accompanied by Luc Marquiw who is a film-maker in the IRD (Research Institute for the development). He will film different parts of our work that we will probably use during the Congress.

Consequently, a great deal of research and synthesis is waiting for us over the course of the next months !

Dans la perspective de présenter une session scientifique lors du 14ème d’Ethnobiologie (ISE) au Bhoutan en juin 2014, notre groupe de six élèves a déjà travaillé différents sujets

concernant les abeilles et l’apiculture. Ce travail nous a permis de nous rendre une demi-journée sur un rucher proche de Montpellier appartenant à monsieur Benoît Jaillard, apiculteur et directeur de recherche à l’INRA. Il a été présenté en mai 2013 lors des Journées Académiques du Développement Durable.

En ce début d'année scolaire 2013-2014, notre groupe travaillant sur l'apiculture s’est scindé en deux pour des raisons pratiques, mais néanmoins, nos deux sous-groupes partageront une même problématique :

« Quelles seraient les conséquences d'une disparition totale des abeilles sur l'Homme ? »

Trois d’entre-nous vont se centrer sur les causes possibles de cette actuelle disparition observée dans notre région, mais également aussi à l’échelle mondiale, en retraçant l'évolution de l'apiculture en lien avec les pratiques culturales.

Les autres se centreront sur les conséquences que cette probable disparition engendrerait au niveau de la flore, mais surtout sur la santé de l'Homme. Ce travail de recherche va être mené dans le cadre des Travaux Personnels Encadrés, qui constituent une épreuve anticipée du baccalauréat.

L’ensemble du groupe va animer une table-ronde à laquelle participeront différents acteurs du monde apicole, et qui aura lieu le 16 décembre 2013, pendant la Semaine de la Science de notre lycée.

Durant cette année scolaire, nous seront comme l’an dernier accompagnés par Luc Marquiw, réalisateur des films Canal IRD. Il filmera différentes parties de nos travaux que nous utiliserons sûrement lors du congrès.

Un long travail de recherches et de synthèse nous attend donc durant les mois à venir !
